Beware of STINKIN' THINKIN', stay away from STINKIN' THINKIN' and give yourself a positive edge for career search success.
The "power of positive thinking" is not a new concept. It's as old as the hills. But just because the notion has been around just about forever does not diminish it's validity in today's modern world.
Positive thinking can be an asset to anyone involved in a job search. Cynics, however, argue that positive thinking is overblown and, well, simply does not work. The cynics are both right and wrong. They are "right" that positive thinking does not always work. They are "wrong" to be negative, to display a negative attitude toward positive thinking. Why? Because while positive thinking may not always work negative thinking - stinkin' thinkin' - never fails!
It is plain common sense for most people and easily understood at a core instinctive level that you would be very wise to marshal your mindset to generate positive thoughts, positive expectations and positive images of career search success. The challenge, of course, is that this common sense understanding is often easier said than done.
In this turbulent, changing and troublesome world, and especially during the stress and pressure inducing career search process, it is understandable that you might find it difficult to be perpetually positive. That's perfectly normal. But I urge and implore you to at least keep your mindset out of negative thinking. Stay away fromSTINKIN' THINKIN' or it will infect your mindset to be visible in every interview. What? How can people see my mindset? Danged if I know! I can't explain it, I just know it. And so do you. I mean, come on, aren't you immediately able to see a person who brightens up a room by leaving it?
A negative mindset, an expectation that things will probably not work out, stinkin' thinkin', is guaranteed to hold you back. Stinkin' thinkin' manifests victim behaviour. Victim behaviour will keep you stuck. Being stuck reinforces stinkin' thinkin' and the vicious cycle continues and gains momentum. Yuck!
Career search success begins with mindset. Control your mindset and you gain far greater control of you. Control you and you control your behaviour:creativity, resilience, persistence, determination, communication power, ability to convey a strong professional & personal impression. Control your behaviour and career search success will be yours. Sooner or later the position will be yours and always much quicker than wallowing in negative thinking.
The good news is that you, and only you, are in control of your mindset. Success begins with you and your power to select your mindset, to choose how you think.Choose wisely.
To your success!
