The myth is that small business drives the Canadian economy. But Vincent Geloso, an economics and politics student at Universite de Montreal disagrees. In an article in today's Financial Post editorial page called In praise of big business, Geloso says that (using 2005 numbers) business with over 500 employees composed 44.27 per cent of the workforce and if all business with over 100 employees were lumped in, they composed nearly 60 per cent of the Canadian workforce.

Geloso goes on to say that workers in these big enterprises gained more (often much more) than employees in smaller companies. He goes on to quote a study that suggests the most of the world's most innovative companies were all very big corporations.
